International study opportunities
There are a number of avenues part-time MBA students can explore to participate in international study tours at MBS.
Exchange Program
All part-time MBA students are eligible to apply to participate in the MBS exchange program. Each year about 30 per cent of the full-time class and approximately 10 part timers spend a term abroad on exchange. Those selected study overseas full-time during Term 3 (September - December) and return to Melbourne to complete their MBA, with credit for the subjects completed on exchange.
Students continue to pay tuition fees to Melbourne Business School but are exempted from tuition fees at the host institution, unless notified of a different arrangement at the time of application. However, the extra costs associated with overseas study (travel, accommodation, health insurance) are borne by the student.

Industry Studies in Asia
In addition to the formal exchange program, MBA students have the opportunity to participate in the subject Industry Studies in Asia - an elective subject that incorporates a field trip to Asia. Groups of students analyse and identify business opportunities within designated organisations and industries.
Industry Studies in Asia 2006
"This year's trip to Shanghai was extraordinarily successful. In addition to the usual meetings with industry and company representatives, this trip included a meeting with eight senior city officials who presented their vision for the city and its industry. The trip also included visits to a port on the Yangtze river, an electronics factory in the industrial area and a biochemical factory. The trip concluded with a dinner for MBS students, alumni from the region and local businesspeople who have helped us with the subject - a total of 98!
One student commented: "It is unbelievable that I can go to Shanghai and be treated to dinner with classmates, alumni and prominent Chinese business people without any previous contacts or networks."
