Types of Change: diagnosing your change project & understanding how to successfully manage it

Professor Paul Kirkbride
Deputy Dean, Mt Eliza Executive Education
Before attempting to tackle change projects organisations need to first identify the type of changes that they are experiencing. Failure to identify the correct type of change can lead to organisations managing and leading change projects in the wrong way, often to unsuccessful outcomes. In this presentation, Professor Kirkbride introduces the audience to a change model that consists of four types of change projects: 'movie projects', 'lost in the fog projects', 'painting by numbers projects' and 'quest projects'. These types of change projects all have to be managed and led differently in order to achieve a successful outcome. Professor Kirkbride talks through and provides examples for each change project and highlights how the correct management of these projects can lead to successful transitions for your organisation.
