'We know there are known unknowns': policy making in an uncertain world
Inaugural Lecture by Professor Nilss Olekalns (Dept of Economics, University of Melbourne)
Policy makers operate in a world of uncertainty, for example, not knowing the current state of the economy. This lecture will discuss recent research that aims to understand how the economy evolves in response to uncertainty and how various scores of information can be brought together to shed light on the reality of current economic conditions.
Nilss Olekalns (PhD, LaTrobe University) is currently the Head of the Economics Department at the University of Melbourne and has published on a variety of macroeconomic topics including fiscal and monetary policies, exchange rates, output and inflation volatility, and interest rates.
Refreshments will follow the lecture at 7.30pm
