In his annual update on Australia's macroeconomic outlook, Ian Harper will examine Australia's prospects of avoiding recession as the US global economies slow. He will also analyse the first Swan budget and offer his view on the outlook for interest rates, inflation and economic growth.

But what are the risks and prospects for countries such as Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa? Is there evidence of reform fatigue, and is "Dutch disease" a problem for resource exporters?
