Decision sciences
The MBS Decision Sciences group conducts research into methods of modelling the quantitative relationships and systems that underpin sound business decisions. The three general areas of expertise are operations management and research, statistical modelling and data analysis, and information systems.
Recent projects include modelling electricity markets, application of operations management principles in the healthcare sector, valuing environmental outcomes with choice modelling and measuring dependence in marketing data using copulas. This is a technical field that involves applying new mathematical and statistical models to business systems.
There are strong cross-disciplinary links with finance, econometrics and market engineering.
