Faculty staff profile

John joined MBS in November 2004 as Dean and Director and holds the Pratt Family Chair of Leadership.

He was previously Senior Vice President and Distinguished Professor of Management at Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management (1998-2004) in Phoenix, Arizona USA. Previously he was Dean of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah (1988-1998), also in the USA. He was also professor of management and adjunct professor of psychology there (1974-1998).

His research, teaching and consulting focus on: employee motivation, performance and retention; leadership skill assessment and development; organization and job design; team development; management education.

For the past two decades he has been extremely active working with business schools around the world as they redefine and refine their management education roles and is often asked to give speeches and presentations on the future of management education. He has also served on numerous corporate and not-for-profit boards over the years.
