Melbourne Business School in FT Global Top 100 MBA ranking
In this year’s Financial Times survey of business schools offering full-time MBAs, MBS has confirmed its position in the FT Global Top 100 and one of the Top 5 in the Asia-Pacific.
The School’s rankings come as demand for a high quality MBA from a dedicated business school continues to rise. Having recorded a staggering 42% increase over 2005 in its full-time and part-time MBA enrolments in 2006, MBS is on track this year to make another substantial increase over last year’s successful intake for full-time MBA enrolments.
MBS is also experiencing strong demand from the employment market for its MBA graduates. “We have over 50 employers from approximately 20 countries that have recruited our graduates from our full-time class of 2006 – we have a critical mass of quality MBA graduates,” said Professor Richard Speed, Associate Dean for Faculty Resources, Melbourne Business School.
“It’s also interesting to note that over 30% of employers attending this month’s Career Week are from Sydney and this implies that there’s a gap in the Sydney market for the number and quality of MBA graduates that this market needs.
Also, the number of employers attending our Career Week this month has tripled compared with last year’s attendance,” adds Professor Speed.
Whilst the School’s domestic ranking has moved, MBS is only one of two business schools in Australia that has its MBA recognised by The Financial Times.
The Financial Times has recognised a number of capabilities of the School that are unparalleled in Australia:
- Diversity of its students: 70% of students are from overseas for the full-time MBA classroom making the classroom a global experience.
- International faculty: MBS continues to attract world-class, business experienced faculty from other leading business schools around the world.
- International experience of students: MBS offers students exchange opportunities with over 40 business schools around the world and electives that also take students abroad.
- Career progress of MBA graduates: the proportion of MBS graduates working in senior roles post their MBA has increased.
“MBS is looking forward to a very successful year; we’re partnering with other business schools around the world to offer new programs; we’re continuing to attract world-class faculty, who are recognised thought leaders; and we’re continuing our program enhancements to meet the needs of our stakeholders,’’ said Professor Speed.
